September 18th - Rubbish Round-up


ACWA's 5th Rubbish Round-up.

Information about this event follows:
1. Assembly place: Dixon Troxell Post 211 (Funkstown American Legion), 12 Nw side Avenue, Funkstown, Md 21742
2. Time Frame: 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM
3. Brief Description: The pupose of the Rubbish Round-up is to pick up trash and help clean-up part of the waterway of Antietam Creek in Washington County, Maryland. Volunteers will paddle or row in boats down a section of Antietam Creek from the MELP plant to the Legion's site. Other volunteers will walk along the creek. Some of the trash will be re-cycled while most of it will be picked-up by municipal employees. A picnic lunch will follow. About 100 volunteers from schools, scouts, alternative sanctions program, and the general public are expected to participate.

We need more members to help spread ACWA's mission and take energetic roles in the environmental community. We need members, and board members who will strive to keep Antietam Creek a place of beauty and recreation for future generations.
